Exclusive Interview with K-Roll

Howdy you lot! As you are all sobering up after your party on new years eve, I wanted to bring you an up coming artist that is rapidly being recognised in the music world. In 2010 K-Roll launched her herself with nothing more than a Microphone, a camera and the determination to become music's next big thing! With reaching nearly 500 downloads on her mixtapes and have over 16,000 views on youtube this star is shinning very bright!

As an ice-breaker can you describe yourself in one word?
  • Fierce
So how did you come up with the name K-Roll?
  • A hyperactive day with my cousin and one small shopping list. The rest is history.. or so they say.
Is K-Roll an alter ego and not a true represntation of yourself?
  • She is I. I guess she is the way I can say stuff without really caring what people think.
Who would you say inspired you to start writing and recording your music?
  • It was never a choice to start - it just happened. But definitely Gaga is the main inspiration in life.
In your song "Aliens" you write about how you don't fit into society, do you think our generation can relate to this as individuality seems to be something that is hard to express in our society?
  • Yes most definitely. The song is for that person that never felt like they'd conform to the norm. They never felt like that the "normal" life was for them. It's just a pity huge stars such as Gaga with 'Born this Way', Katy Perry's 'Firework' + P!nk's 'Fucking Perfect' came along and look as if I stole their ideas.. When in fact mine was released before. *winks*
Who has inspired you on a personal level?

  • Like I said before, Lady Gaga. She has completely changed my life. She's also given me the opportunities to meet others who have inspired me in their own little ways. I find determination in a person very inspiring. Belief is everything.

What is your ALL time favourite song and what does it mean to you?
  • I honestly could not pick. There are so many songs that make me feel different depending on my situation. However, I will tell you my all time favourite song of mine. "Runaway". This song basically saved me.
When you started doing music, how did your friends and peers react?
  • Friends were shocked but amazed at the same time. Peers in my area have never really taken to the idea of it, in fact most people dislike me for it. But being a female footballer had the same reaction since I was 5 so it's nothing I ain't used to.
Have you done any live gigs yet, or would you like to?
  • I haven't done a proper gig yet. I've performed 2songs before at school formals. But I'd give anything for the opportunity to perform on a regular basis. The stage is what I'm living for. Making my songs come alive is the reason I make them.
Who is the best live act that you have seen?
  • Who else but Lady Gaga. I've seen 100s of artists live and none have gave me the feeling she did. I was a fan before I seen her but now I'm obsessed. She can control a stage and a crowd like no other.
Ok so in ten years time K-Roll has blown up and you've finally made it, where do you hope to be?
  • I hope to be planning another world tour. Touring has always been a massive part of the dream. It really allows me as an artist both bring alive my art and connect with my listeners.
Do you have any other passion besides your passion for music?
  • I guess I have a passion for the mind. I'm obsessed with the thought of how people work. Love is something I've always been obsessed with. It's so complex, it's fascinating how it can control you.

Pepsi or Coke?
  • Pepsi! (Without a second thought taken)
I am disgusted at your taste.
Nicki Minaj or Lil Kim?
  • Nicki Minaj. She's just been more current to me. I've always preferred her features to solo work though.
Froze to death or burnt to death?
  • 'Im so hot I guess I'm already burning to death. (She explains that she is joking) But I hate the cold.

Sex with your icon Lady Gaga or Me?
  • Can't we have a threesome?
I'm up for that, time and place?

You have a certain style (clothes wise) and have inspired people in your local area to dress similar, do you aspire or know that you are a style icon if you will and who inspires you do dress so individually?
  • Ah! Interesting! I dress how I feel. (Flicking her weave like a ghetto princess) If one day I'm feeling like a tom boy I'll reflect in in my brightly coloured skinnies saggin' and my snapback. If the next I'm feeling geek sheek - I'll do the same. Clothes are your mind displayed on your body I guess.
So will 2012 bring big things for K-Roll? can you give us any hints as to when your next mixtape will be released, or even an EXCLUSIVE TRACK?
  • It will! Watch out.. Kransin is coming. She's the reason I'm truly fierce. She might even try to kill K-Roll.. who knows! Yeah have an exclusive track if you want it! It's all love here Mr.Maxwell. My new mixture will be early this year.. Name to be confirmed when I've finished it all up - or when more of you follow my fine ass!
There you have it the Krazy K-Roll, when interviewing her she was so laid back and open about her life and you can really tell how professional and determined she is to be a success. I was able to have a joke with her which is evident by some of the pointless questions I asked her. I feel that she has all the ingredients to become the next big female rapper in the industry, and there is a huge gap in the market for a British one.

So as K-Roll hinted at leaking some new material if more of you followed her. So here is her official music twitter! http://twitter.com/#!/KRANSIN and her official facebook page http://www.facebook.com/KRollMusic?ref=ts
